First Visit

New Patient Form [ Adobe PDF ]

During this complimentary visit, we will help you become acquainted with the overall working of our practice. An X-ray and photographs will be taken to help Dr. Stevenson determine your individual orthodontic concerns. Our goal is to help you understand your needs or your child’s needs and to help you choose a treatment plan that is most favorable. We have on staff a New Patient Coordinator to personally help you make your transition from the initial consultation to the initiation of treatment.

It is important to us that you receive as much information as you can at this first visit. Therefore, we will also provide you with information regarding the anticipated length and cost of treatment. For those patients with orthodontic insurance, we will verify benefits and take care of all insurance billings to help minimize your insurance concerns.

We offer several payment options that include the following:

  • Discounts given for payments made in full
  • No money down payment plans
  • Monthly payment plans with a down payment
  • Discounts offered for multiple family members

When you decide to begin your orthodontic treatment with Dr. Stevenson, the following appointments will take place:

Records Appointment

At this appointment impressions will be taken of your teeth. These impressions are needed to obtain accurate models of the teeth and the bite so that Dr. Stevenson can measure the teeth and their exact relationships to each other. These are invaluable in providing orthodontic treatment and monitoring the progress of treatment. We also take radiographs and photographs. This is done in order to accurately determine where to move each of the teeth within the upper and lower jaws. We may also place separators between your back teeth. The separators are used to create space around the back teeth for the fitting of stainless steel bands or appliance crowns. They are usually left in place for one week or as needed. The length of this appointment will be 30 minutes. When stainless steel bands or appliance crowns are not needed, records and the placing of braces can be done in one appointment. This appointment will be 1 hour and 30 minutes including hygiene instructions.

Start Appointment

The next appointment made will be to place braces and/or fit bands or appliance crowns depending on the individual treatment plan. This appointment may be 50 minutes or up to 1 hour and 20 minutes in length. This appointment will also include hygiene instructions to teach you how to care for your new braces.

Seat Appliance Appointment

This appointment will take place if an appliance or appliances are being placed. This appointment will be 20 minutes or up to 50 minutes in length depending on the appliance to be placed. Hygiene instructions are also included with this appointment to teach you how to care for your new appliance.

Patient Manager

When you begin treatment in our office, you will be assigned a patient manager who will work alongside Dr. Stevenson assisting him throughout your entire treatment. We have found that patients look forward to their appointments so much more when they know exactly whom they will be seeing along with Dr. Stevenson. This is a great advantage for the parent as well as the patient. You will receive your child’s patient manager’s business card at the very first appointment. You can feel confident in knowing that someone who has formed a personal bond with your child and who knows their case almost as well as the doctor will answer your calls and questions.
